Dan Kean

Co-Best Man

I am blessed to have the support of these fun, beer-drinking brothers in my life.

Dan is my younger brother, fraternity brother, and one of my best friends.  He is a big sports fan like me and we often debate which players are over or underrated, which team got the better deal in a trade, or which team we think is going to win the championship.  As kids we used to stay up past bedtime trying to name a professional athlete for each jersey number from 1-100.  When Dan is not watching, talking, or reading about sports, he can often be found hanging with his awesome wife Whitney and playful labrador Dublin, playing Call of Duty, or honing his photography skills.  Dan is funny, hard-working, and thoughtful.  David and I came up with a pretty awesome toast for Dan's wedding reception, so I'm a little nervous about what the two of them might cook up for ours.

David is my youngest brother, fraternity brother, and one of my best friends.  He is a big craft beer fan and often introduces me to new brews since he has ample access to some of the best breweries in the world in San Diego. David enjoys playing sports and going to concerts, is practically a Costco spokesman, and enjoys trying to impress his super smart, literary agent girlfriend, Taylor, with big vocabulary that is often misused.  David has always been high-energy, and often times when he was younger we would encourage him to go run laps outside the restaurant while the rest of our family finished eating our meals. David is funny, dependable, and diligent.  He is a police officer and has more interesting work stories from any given week than I have from my 4+ years as a CPA.

Larry and I have been close friends since we joined Sigma Phi Epsilon at UC Irvine in the same (pledge) class 9 years ago (seriously?!?!). I've always had a blast talking sports, quoting our favorite movies, and engaging in random shenanigans with Larry.  Larry is never shy about being himself or being ridiculous in the name of good fun, whether it's futilely hunting squirrels in my parents' backyard while wearing my dad's cowboy hat, being the loudest person at any sporting or fraternity event, or rocking his cut-off shorts that are definitely a few inches too short.  When Larry and I lived together in the SigEp house, we called our room Promontory Point, to "honor" our Chinese and part-Irish heritages. When Larry and his sweet wife Kristi got married, I passed on the "baton" of representing the white people at Promontory Point to her...and now Larry is giving up his Chinese representation to Sedora (she actually is half-Chinese).  Larry is fun-loving, reliable, and has a good heart. Even though he'll probably steal the attention at some point, I'm happy to have him up there with me at my wedding.

Manny and I have been good friends since he joined Sigma Phi Epsilon at UC Irvine in the same (pledge) class as my brother Dan.  I got to know Manny well playing intramural softball and hanging out at the fraternity house.  Manny is quite competitive, and as a result it's a lot of fun to play and watch sports with him.  Manny and I lived in the same apartment community during my first year after graduating and had some good times hopping the pool area fence after hours, going on late night 7/11 runs, and watching Space Jam until way too late. Manny is hard-working, dependable, and down for anything.
